Dont Be at Risk: Discover What Every C-store Owner Needs To Know About PCI Standards Convenience Store News - 06/25/08

One of the biggest issues impacting c-store retailers who accept credit and debit cards is mandatory compliance with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS).
Developed by the major credit card companies, PCI DSS is a set of mandatory guidelines created to secure customer information during card transactions in order to prevent credit card fraud, hacking and various other data breaches, security vulnerabilities and threats. A company processing, storing or transmitting payment card data whether a one-store operator or a multi-unit chain must be PCI DSS compliant or risk losing their ability to process credit card payments, not to mention facing an audit, hefty fines, customer lawsuits and a tarnished reputation.
But different rules apply depending on the number of transactions a company processes the larger the company, the more time and money needed to comply and the newest mandate requires PIN Pads at the pump to be PCI DSS compliant by 2010. Additionally, even after compliance is achieved, c-store owners and other retailers must continue to validate their compliance periodically.
So where do you start? What technology and other investments are needed for your company, and how long does it take to implement them? What are the consequences if you are out of compliance? Can you do it in-house or should you hire outside help?
Join Convenience Store News for this live, interactive, online-only Web Seminar, sponsored by Retalix and IBM and hear from industry experts and fellow retailers about the importance of being PCI compliant and how to get there.
